Data Deletion Policy

How to have your account and personal data erased, exactly what is removed, and the records we are required to keep.

Last updated 14 August 2026

1. How to request deletion

Sign in and go to Settings → Data & account → Delete account. You confirm with your password and by typing the word DELETE. No email exchange is needed and nobody has to approve it.

If you cannot sign in, write to privacy@pixirain.com from the address on the account. We will verify it is you before acting, because a deletion request is irreversible and accepting one on trust is how accounts get destroyed by someone else.

2. What happens immediately

  • Sign-in is disabled and every signed-in device is signed out.
  • The account stops appearing to other users, and no further notifications or emails are sent.
  • A 30-day grace period starts. Writing to us within it cancels the request and restores access.

3. What is erased after 30 days

  • Your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, bio, skills, hourly rate and portfolio links.
  • Files you uploaded, including your profile picture and project attachments filed under your account.
  • Messages and milestone comments you wrote — the text is removed and the record shows a deleted author.
  • Sign-in history, saved payment-method references, push subscriptions, and stored notification history.
  • Saved settings and preferences.

4. What we keep, and why

Some records cannot be deleted with the account, because they are not solely yours or because the law requires them to be kept:

  • Invoices, transactions and escrow records. These are financial records of a transaction with a counterparty, and are retained for the statutory accounting and tax retention period. They keep the amounts and dates; your name and contact details are removed.
  • Project and milestone history. A project involves at least two parties. The record survives with your identity removed, so the other side keeps their own history intact.
  • Reviews you left. The rating and text stay attached to the package or freelancer, shown as from a deleted account.
  • Dispute records and abuse investigations. Kept as long as needed to resolve them and to prevent the same account being recreated to repeat the conduct.
  • Records of the deletion itself. So we can show it was carried out.

Backups are not edited row by row. Data already written to a backup is removed when that backup expires on its normal rotation, within 90 days, and backups are not used to restore an erased account.

5. When deletion has to wait

A request cannot complete while you have a project in flight, an open dispute, or money in escrow. Those involve someone else and finishing them is the only way to settle their side. You will be told which of these is blocking, and the request completes on its own once they clear.

6. Processors

Deletion requests are also passed to the services that hold data on our behalf: Supabase (file storage), Razorpay (payments) and Resend (transactional email).

Razorpay is the exception, and it is worth being clear about it: as a regulated payment processor it is required to retain transaction records regardless of our request, and we cannot override that.

7. Take your data with you first

Settings → Data & account → Export gives you everything we hold about you as a JSON file. Do that before requesting deletion; afterwards we cannot produce it.
